A rather controversial report has emerged regarding OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman. According to an investigation by The New Yorker magazine based on interviews with OpenAI insiders, Sam Altman has limited expertise in coding and machine learning technology.
According to statements from engineers at the company, Altman has limited programming experience and sometimes confuses basic AI terminology. The report suggests that Altman's prominence at OpenAI comes from his management and strategic leadership skills rather than deep technical knowledge.
Carroll Wainwright, a former OpenAI researcher, criticized Altman for being accustomed to "establishing frameworks and rules" when working, but then abandoning those rules if they become obstacles for him.
More notably, a Microsoft executive issued a warning regarding Altman's conduct. He stated that Sam Altman has a "rare but actually possible chance" of being recorded in history alongside past financial scandal figures and those with tarnished reputations. This is quite a severe criticism directed at the leader of the world's largest AI company.
