Japan, which continues to face severe heatwaves, has introduced a new cooling device nicknamed the "Human Refrigerator" to protect workers from heat-related illnesses caused by excessive heat exposure.

The cooling device, called the 'Do Hiemon Box', has been designed for individual use and is intended for use in construction sites, factories, warehouses, and other high-temperature work environments.

The system, developed by SDRS and distributed by TRUSCO Nakayama, reduces the indoor temperature to around 15 degrees Celsius and directly blows cool air at 5 degrees Celsius to the user's head, neck, shoulders, and back.

According to manufacturers, users can cool down within minutes, and taking a 10-minute break inside can prevent heat-induced dizziness and fainting.

Unlike portable fans or cooling vests, the cooling device is a fully enclosed commercial small room, allowing workers to rapidly lower their body temperature before returning to the workplace.

As summer heat in Japan becomes more severe, companies are increasingly adopting such new technologies to protect outdoor and factory workers.
