BMW's manufacturing facilities are moving forward into the modern era, and the company has now deployed a new generation Figure 03 humanoid robot at its Spartanburg facility in the United States. Following the success of the Figure 02 that took initial steps, the Figure 03 is now entering into more delicate and complex production logistics operations. It not only sorts through disorganized car parts one by one, but also systematically organizes them to deliver them to assembly workstations using an autonomous transport system in a timely manner.
Due to the performance of these remarkable robots, BMW's renowned "just-in-sequence" manufacturing system has become even faster and more precise. For human workers, they will receive the correct parts exactly on time, which will free them from repetitive and exhausting manual work.
Moreover, the advanced technologies of Figure 03 are truly impressive. When working alongside humans in the workplace, it includes features designed for safety, such as a soft outer layer covering the exterior of the body, a wireless power charging system, and a system capable of direct voice communication. In particular, robot hands equipped with cameras embedded in the palms and tactile sensing systems are being used to handle car parts without any errors. BMW states that it will continue to expand advanced AI and robotics technology across its entire factory network.
