A future where humanoid robots will handle all household chores is becoming remarkably close, already materializing within the current 2026 year.
GigaAI, a Chinese robotics company, has deployed 100 units of their SeeLight S1 humanoid robots into real homes for practical field testing to perform tasks such as cooking, laundry, house cleaning, and organizing items neatly in their designated places.
What makes these humanoid robots distinctive is that they can learn many household tasks in a short timeframe before even a month passes, and they possess the capability to adapt and respond appropriately to changes in the home environment.
However, currently their work efficiency is still relatively slow, as they still require more than 10 minutes just to fold a single piece of clothing.
This project has been recorded in China as one of the largest real-world field tests of humanoid robots.
