Meta employees will soon hear Slack notifications instead of Google Chat. The company is abandoning Google Chat—its longtime internal communication tool—in favor of Slack, as announced by Meta's AI chief Alexandr Wang in a memo released this week.

The primary reason for this sudden switch is artificial intelligence technology. According to Wang, Slack offers better conversation capabilities for AI agents and stronger integration with developer tools and external services. He explained that even employees who don't create AI themselves can benefit significantly from this robust AI ecosystem.

This transition represents a major victory for Salesforce, Meta's parent company, which acquired Slack for $27.7 billion in 2021. With Salesforce currently making substantial investments in AI products, gaining Meta's confidence in this way will certainly provide a boost to their business prospects.
