OpenAI is recruiting for an "AI Safety Researcher" position, offering up to $445,000 per year in USD, to prevent advanced AI systems expected to emerge in the future from becoming uncontrollably intelligent and surpassing human intelligence.
This position will be based in OpenAI's Preparedness team, which monitors and studies the long-term risks of advanced AI systems that can improve themselves without human involvement.
The successful candidate will primarily investigate the "recursive self-improvement" process of AI systems that require minimal human supervision and can independently generate and self-train increasingly sophisticated versions of themselves.
Additionally, they will study monitoring of dangerous AI behaviors, protecting technical models from data poisoning attacks, and researching how automation systems might replace technical jobs.
Following Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, warning that humanity has already "reached the doorstep of the singularity" where AI technology intelligence will surpass human intelligence, OpenAI's current job recruitment aimed at preventing AI dominance as depicted in future science fiction films has received considerable attention and interest worldwide.
