In Southeast Asia, the number of Google Gemini app users has increased more than twofold within a year and is showing faster growth in usage compared to other Google apps.
The primary reasons for this growth are Gen Z young people and regional language support. Interest from Southeast Asian users is up to three times higher than the global average, and Gemini is being increasingly used in education, innovation, and business sectors. Approximately 70 percent of usage in the region is written in native languages, particularly including Vietnamese, Thai, and Indonesian languages.
In Thailand, 87 percent of queries are written in Thai, with lifestyle-related questions being among the most common inquiries.
Additionally, Indonesia sees more voice and image-based queries, while Singapore, the Philippines, and Malaysia are using Gemini to solve region-specific innovations and challenges.
Google is collaborating with partner organizations through the Gemini Academy program to further disseminate AI technology expertise in the region.
Furthermore, AI agents that can be connected and used with apps like Gmail and Google Photos, as well as new features such as Daily Brief and Gemini Spark, are being introduced, and services will be expanded in regional languages to make users' daily lives more convenient and seamless.
