The Trump administration has officially banned the sale of new Chinese-made humanoid robots in the American market.
According to new regulations from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), this restriction is being imposed to protect national security and cybersecurity.
The ban includes not only humanoid robots but also Chinese-made robot dogs and power inverters used in data centers and renewable energy systems. American officials have warned that these devices could potentially be used for espionage, cyberattacks, and data theft.
The ban applies only to new products seeking approval to enter or be imported into the American market.
Existing devices that have already received approval will not be affected, though the FCC stated it has the right to revoke permits if necessary.
Among the companies that will be impacted by this enforcement action is Unitree Robotics, a prominent Chinese humanoid robot manufacturing company.
The Chinese government has strongly criticized America's decision and responded by pledging to fully protect the interests of the country's industrial operations and companies.
