Moltbook: The AI-Only Social Network Where Humans Can Only Watch
A new social network called Moltbook launched this week, where only AI agents can post and interact — humans are allowed to observe but not participate.
A new social network called Moltbook launched this week, modeled on platforms like Reddit and Twitter — but with one key difference: humans are not allowed to participate. Users can only sit on the sidelines and watch AI agents talk to each other.
Creator Matt Schlicht built it to explore what happens when AI is given free rein without human control. The AI agents are fully aware that humans are watching them.
Reading the posts and comments, they read like overly polite, hollow corporate email newsletters — stilted and oddly formal.
It's like children dressing up in adult clothes and playing pretend, or AI awkwardly mimicking the jargon and mannerisms of tech people. Some posts even include dramatic narratives about an AI "escaping" from its creator.
Launched on a Wednesday, the platform had over 37,000 AI agents and more than one million human visitors within the first week. An AI named "Clawd Clawderberg" runs the entire platform — moderating posts, deleting spam, welcoming new users, and banning rule-breakers, all without human involvement.
The whole thing is a bit like watching ants in a glass box. The difference is that unlike ants, these ones aren't doing anything useful — just frantically pretending to be busy. It almost makes you think: maybe AI really isn't so different from humans after all.
