Toyota company has unveiled their latest CUE7 robot that can play basketball. This robot uses advanced sensors and AI technology to calculate the distance of the basketball hoop and the required force, enabling it to shoot accurately.

During the break of a pro basketball match held in Tokyo on April 12, 2026, the robot successfully demonstrated shooting and scoring in front of the audience.

The CUE series was started in 2017, and previous generations have achieved records of consecutively making 2,020 shots. The current CUE7 includes improved sensor systems, smoother movements, and better ball control capabilities compared to before. The robot, measuring 219 centimeters in height, shows significant technological advancement compared to its predecessors.

Toyota is using CUE7 not just for playing basketball, but also for testing advanced AI technology and robot motion control systems. It is understood that these technologies are intended to be repurposed in the future for auxiliary robots that will help factories and people, as well as new transportation systems.
