Netherlands-based U-Boat Worx has unveiled the Super Sub, which the company bills as the world's fastest private mini-submarine. Following successful sea trials off the coast of Curaçao, the first unit is now ready for delivery to its buyer.
The all-electric Super Sub seats up to three people and reaches a top speed of approximately 18.5 km/h — considerably faster than comparable personal submersibles. It can dive to a depth of 300 metres, putting it well within range of the ocean's most biodiverse zones.
Its wing-shaped hull is optimised for hydrodynamic efficiency, allowing agile vertical manoeuvring. Passengers inside enjoy panoramic 360-degree views through the acrylic viewport, while the battery pack provides up to eight hours of underwater runtime on a single charge.
Safety systems include an automatic rescue mechanism and a depth-limiting override to prevent exceeding rated depth. At a base price of around $5.75 million USD, the Super Sub is firmly aimed at the ultra-high-net-worth and luxury charter markets.
