The Vietnamese government has officially granted Elon Musk's Starlink satellite internet permission to operate within the country. The license allows up to 600,000 terminals connected to four gateway stations in the initial phase. However, strict restrictions are in place to ensure no interference with existing radio communication networks. With a population of around 100 million, Vietnam has approximately 80% internet penetration, but remote mountainous regions and rural areas still struggle with connectivity. Starlink's low-Earth orbit satellites are well-positioned to fill that gap with high-speed internet. Starlink's website has also announced that services for Vietnam are coming soon. SpaceX's Starlink currently operates around 6,750 satellites and provides service in more than 125 countries and territories. This move marks a significant step for Starlink's expansion in Southeast Asia.
