Samsung Admits Fault After Galaxy S25 Plus Explodes
Samsung has accepted responsibility after a Galaxy S25 Plus caught fire while charging with an official Samsung cable, agreeing to compensate for the phone, medical costs, and property damage.
Samsung has admitted it is at fault after a Galaxy S25 Plus caught fire. Reddit user Scoopofwei reported that a phone purchased in September overheated and exploded in November while charging with an official Samsung cable, burning part of a carpet.
Local fire investigators determined the fire was caused by "thermal runaway" — a battery overheating event that becomes uncontrollable. The smoke from the fire caused throat pain and chest tightness, though a medical examination confirmed no lung damage. Photos shared online show the phone completely burned.
Samsung has accepted responsibility for the incident and agreed to compensate for the cost of the phone, medical expenses, and the cost of repairing the damaged property.
While the Galaxy S25 series features a cooling system that is 40% larger than the previous generation, many users continue to report overheating issues — with complaints that the phone noticeably heats up even during normal use.
